21 and 22 September
Hyde Park, London

Japan in the Park
Zap turned Hyde Park into an open-air festival celebrating everything Japanese. Wowing an audience of 250,000, were horseback archers (Yabusame) and an enormous float (Nebuta), held up by a gaily-costumed troupe of young carriers, dancers and drummers. Lit up at night it became a huge lantern which was only eclipsed by a breathtaking firework display (Hanabi) featuring sixteen inch shells.
