Matsuri
Japan in the Park
Ten years after the first Matsuri spectacular in Hyde Park, Zap Productions put on a weekend celebration of Japanese culture as part of Japan 2001. This was attended by Prince Charles and the Emperor (or Crown Prince) of Japan.

Highlights of the event included horseback archery, Taiko drummers, a Japanese village brimming with food and drink, and the Awa Odori, a spectacular processional dance for everyone to join in. This festival was followed by other Japanese events in regional towns, such as the Will Adam’s festival in Gillingham in October.
