1985

By 1985 the Zap Club was getting established in its own home, but also exporting its own unique brand of entertainment throughout the UK as the eight day review of live art in the Midlands illustrates.

In Brighton, for three Festival weeks during May, the Zap collaborated in a range of acts at the club, with artists in residence making installations and living sculpture. Throughout the year, Mark Almond, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, James and Wet Wet Wet performed at Zap Club whilst Sonic Youth held performances outside on the beach.

Behind the scenes, Zap Productions was being launched with an additional director, Robin Morley. Its mission: to meet demand for gigs and safe, high impact events that celebrated and enriched the diversity of communities.
