Glasgow, Johannesburg, Delhi, Sydney, New York and Porto
Wrap the World
In Glasgow on the eve of the Millennium, UZ brought together major cities from each continent to create the world's biggest artwork. Neil Butler started a drawing that was faxed to Johannesburg.
As the artwork emerged, South African artists added to the work, while feeding it into a second fax machine already connected to Delhi. In Delhi, other artists added to the work, faxing it on to Sydney and New York. From there it returned to Glasgow via Porto.
Web-cams were in position at all locations and the BBC broadcast the event so that audiences could watch a unique work of art unfold on its journey across the continents.
