Royal Escape
The Zap quickly outgrew the New Oriental Hotel and moved to the Royal Escape, a basement at 10 Marine Parade. Ian Smith became the regular compere, whilst the Butlers’ band, Extremists in an Igloo, was the irregular house band.

The shows became ever more extravagant involving film, performance art, installations and on one occasion a 20 piece choir and special effects.
